  • Ever wish someone would reward you for your impressive beer-guzzling skills? (Hey, it ain’t easy downing five tasting flights in one afternoon.) Vancouver’s East Village has heard your call.

The business district—an area that encompasses the Grandview-Woodland and Hastings-Sunrise neighbourhoods—launches its East Village Brewery & Distillery Passport today (February 24), which invites Vancouverites to explore the large number of breweries and distilleries in the region.

Guests can order a wide variety of craft beers, spirits, and cocktails at each destination, after which they will receive a stamp in a passport-and-map booklet. The goal is to visit and have a drink at all seven participating breweries and distilleries. Successful imbibers will be rewarded for their efforts with a branded East Village growler.

Passports may be picked up at any of the participating breweries and distillers. Many of them are, conveniently, walking distance from one another: Storm Brewing, Parallel 49 Brewing, Powell Street Craft Brewery, Doan’s Craft Brewing Co., Callister Brewing Co., Bomber Brewing, and Odd Society Spirits.

Andina Brewing Company also plans to get in on the action once it officially opens its doors this Monday (February 26). Parallel 49 will welcome guests as soon as it unveils its revamped tasting room in late March.

East Village reps encourage Vancouverites to “approach the tour at their own pace”, which, really, sounds more like a challenge to us.

The passport program will continue in the area as long as there is interest from visitors. Prizes for Vancouverites who fill their passports will also change to help keep things fresh.
